Your body feels so tired after a hard day’s work. All you need is a nice and comfortable bed to lie down. You jump right into your favorite bed, only to discover that you can’t sleep well because your memory foam mattress has sagged. You really need to buy a new one. Let us guide you along to some of the best mattresses around so that you can have a nice and peaceful sleep every night.
Mattress Buying Guide
1) Innerspring Or Foam?
Innerspring mattresses use hundreds of tempered steel coils as the support with layers of upholstery proving the much needed cushioning as well as insulation between yourself and the coils. Do take note that the number of steel coils used is not proportional to the level of comfort provided but instead the quality of the innerspring system coupled with top class upholstery materials that will ultimately provide the best comfort.
Foam mattresses use either a solid core or different layers of foam laminated together into a single unit. They come in 3 types namely latex, polyurethane and visco-elastic hence they provide variety of comfort for consumers.
2) Size
If you’re sleeping alone, then twin mattresses which measure 38" x 75" is wide and long enough for extra space for frequent tosses and turns throughout the night.
If you’re sleeping with a partner, full or double size mattresses which measure 53" x 75" may not be suitable as the width is not that wide to support both adults. Even queen size mattresses which measure 60" x 80", though 6" wider than full size mattresses are still not fully comfortable for couples (30" each) since it is about 8" less than the minimum required width per person. The best is of course the king size mattresses which measure 76" x 80" and by far provides adequate space for both adults.
3) Comfort & Support
Since you need to spend at least 8 hours a day sleeping on a mattress, you should be fully comfortable when lying on one. The best mattresses are those that provide adequate support to your shoulders, hips and lower back while at the same time ensuring that the spine remains in perfect position (like in standing). Too hard and you’ll definitely feel uncomfortable. Too soft and you’ll develop back pain since there’s inadequate support. Your choice of mattresses should therefore be in terms of coziness and comfort level and may vary from person to person.
4) Durability
Branded and high-quality mattresses are usually made of better quality material, thicker and gives adequate firmness to support your back. A good mattress should be able to provide you with years of comfort and support without any problem. It may come at a steep price though it’s well worth it.
