Give us the pleasure of guiding you to some of the best gas grills so that barbeque foods can be grilled to perfection every time making each occasion a mouth-watering experience for all.
Gas Grill Buying Guide
1) Liquid Propane or Natural Gas?
Liquid propane gas grills have the advantage of being portable since they use refillable propane tanks which can be moved around from place to place thereby giving you more options in terms of placement.
Natural gas grills have to be hooked up to the main gas line in your home and as such mobility is limited to the place of installation, usually indoors. Advantages however include undisturbed gas connection as well as cheaper price of natural gas compared to liquid propane.
** Choose liquid propane gas grills for an exciting outdoor party.
2) Grill Size
Of course it’s better to have bigger cooking surface as well as many side burners to grill all the foods hence your consideration, to a certain extent should be based on the number of people and the type of foods you’ll be grilling for. We would recommend choosing a gas grill with at least 400 square inch cooking space, big enough for steaks, ribs, whole turkey plus a whole lot more. Anything smaller and you’re setting yourself up for disappointment.
3) Cooking Surface
Ideally it should either be porcelain or stainless steel. Porcelain, being non-stick are easy to clean while stainless steel are fairly stick-resistant especially when coated with cooking spray. They are durable as well. In choosing stainless steel gas grills though, ensure that the manufacturers use a high-quality 300-series stainless steel which are known to be more corrosion resistant than the cheaper 400-series stainless steel.
4) Burners
Almost all gas grill burners sold in the market are made of steel although you could find stainless steel or cast iron being offered as well. As they are some of the most heavily used, ensure that these burners can last a long time without the need for replacement. That said, depending on the size of the crowd, you should opt for at least gas grills with 3 or more burners so as to add more flexibility to you cooking needs.
** It’s even more advantageous if there’s also side burners with different temperature settings for cooking or warming needs.
5) Fuel
To produce the smoky outdoor grilled flavors, food drippings must hit the heat source and produce smoke that flavors the food. In gas grills, the fuel comes in 3 sources namely lava rock, heat plates and ceramic briquets.
Lava rock heats up quickly and dissipates heat evenly throughout the interior of the grill. However, being porous, they allow grease to build up over time thereby decreasing their effectiveness.
Heat plates consist of metal bars that upon contact with food drippings, releases smoky flavors that gives the taste.
Ceramic briquets work similarly to that of lava rock but able to remain “grease-free” by virtue of the “baking-off” of residue. They are more expensive but being more efficient than lava rock makes them a better option.
